Networking Basics
Ironclad follows the standard FRC 10.TE.AM.x addressing scheme with DHCP from the radio and selective static IPs for devices like vision.
1 Requirements
- VH‑109 configured in Robot mode
- Driver Station on Ethernet/Wi‑Fi to the radio
- Firewall/VPN disabled on the field/practice network
2 Typical Layout
| Device | Address | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Driver Station | DHCP (10.58.47.5+) | Laptop connects via Wi‑Fi or Ethernet |
| VH‑109 Radio | 10.58.47.1 | Gateway/DHCP |
| RoboRIO | 10.58.47.2 | Deploy & NT target |
| Vision Coprocessor | 10.58.47.11 | Or photon.local |
| Logging PC | 10.58.47.25 | Optional during testing |
Ironclad Standard
Prefer mDNS (e.g., roborio-5847-frc.local) when practical. Use static IPs only where helpful (vision, cameras).
3 Quick Diagnostics
| Check | Command |
|---|---|
| Ping RoboRIO | ping 10.58.47.2 |
| Ping Vision | ping 10.58.47.11 |
| View adapters | ipconfig /all (Win) |
| Reset stack | ipconfig /release && ipconfig /renew |

Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Solution |
|---|---|
| Random DS drops | Disable power saving on Wi‑Fi/Ethernet; prefer wired |
| DNS failures | Use mDNS; flush DNS cache; avoid multiple NICs active |
| High latency | Move AP away from metal; prefer 6 GHz band |
