FRC Game Tools
The FRC Game Tools package includes the Driver Station and roboRIO Imaging Tool required to control and configure robots.
Quick Checklist
Uninstall old NI software (recommended)
Download & run the latest FRC Game Tools installer
Allow .NET Framework update if prompted
Set team number to 5847 in Driver Station
Verify green “Robot Communication” indicator
1 Download
If installing without Internet, click Individual Offline Installers before downloading.
2 Uninstall Old Versions
Remove previous “NI Software” using Add or Remove Programs → reboot.
Only needed once per new season (e.g., uninstall 2024 before 2025).
3 Run Installer
- Execute the downloaded
.exe - Accept any Windows or UAC prompts
- Follow the wizard until completion
- Reboot when finished
If prompted to install .NET Framework 4.6.2, follow the on-screen instructions and restart before resuming.
4 Verify Driver Station
- Launch FRC Driver Station
- Open the Setup tab → enter team 5847
- Connect via USB or radio
- Confirm “Robot Communication” turns green
Use the practice robot when possible to confirm the Driver Station and Imaging Tool detect hardware.
5 Common Issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| RoboRIO not detected | Use a direct USB-A → micro-B cable (no hub) |
| “Team number not saved” | Run Driver Station as administrator once |
| Imaging Tool crashes | Close other NI applications before running |
| Red communication light | Disable firewalls and check network adapter priority |
