Driver Station Basics

The FRC Driver Station (DS) is the official control software for competition and practice.

Key Features​

  • Enable/Disable Control – Switch between Disabled, Autonomous, and Teleop modes.
  • Team Number – Must match the number configured on your roboRIO.
  • Battery Voltage – Displays real-time voltage and brownout warnings.
  • Joystick & Controller Tabs – Show which inputs are active.
  • Logs Tab – View connection and status history.

Match Flow​

During a match, the DS sends periodic packets (~50Hz) to the robot to:

  1. Communicate enable/disable state
  2. Send joystick input data
  3. Receive status feedback

Tip: Always test with your DS in “Practice Mode” before real field matches — it simulates FMS timing!
